B650 motherboards with AM5 socket, compatible with AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series processors, will hit the market this month. Shortly before their release, manufacturers, especially MSI, Asus and Gigabyte, officially announced their own solutions. Motherboards with B650 and B650E chipsets for mid-range will be cheaper than the X670/X670E.

Gigabyte B650 and B650E motherboards

Gigabyte, one of the giants of motherboard manufacturers, will launch eight B650 series motherboards. These motherboards include E (Extreme) models and mATX variants. Most of the announced motherboards are grouped under the Aorus Elite, Master, and Pro brand names, with a modest Aero G expanding the lineup. The Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard comes with the B650E chipset and supports up to DDR5 6600 MHz. The motherboard offers PCIe 5.0 x16 slot support for the graphics card, although it shares bandwidth with two M.2 sockets and drops to x8 if you weigh SSDs. However, it is still possible to install a PCIe 5.0 M.2 driver on this card without potentially sacrificing graphics performance. On the other hand, PCIe 4.0 and four SATA 6 ports are also located on the B650E Aorus Master.

The B650 Gigabyte Aero G motherboard, on the other hand, lacks PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card and continues to support PCIe 4.0 for this area. Offering PCIe 5.0 X4 support in one of its three M.2 slots, the motherboard comes with additional features such as SATA ports and Wi-FiE for extra expansion. Differentiating from the others with its USB-C port capable of 4K video output from integrated graphics units, the Aero G will be an option for manufacturers rather than gamers.

On the Asus side, there will be ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, ProArt and Prime motherboards with B650 and B650E chips. ROG Strix motherboards come with Precision Boost Overdrive auto-overclocking support in their UEFI BIOS, while ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and ProArt B650 motherboards from Asus offer a high-speed USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port that emphasizes usability. ROG Strix B650E motherboards feature two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, a pair of PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, and two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.

Finally, on the MSI side, we encounter MPG, MAG, EDGE, Tomahawk, Mortar and PRO series motherboards and their variants. The MPG B650I EDGE WIFI model appears as the Mini-ITX model. The MPG series cards will have four M.2 sockets, possibly one more from other brands, if not the ITX one. All motherboards support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5, while also bringing in features like RAM overclocking up to 6600MHz and 2.5G Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E as we expected. On the other hand, MSI has not yet listed motherboards with B650E chipset.
