In a news we shared with you recently, we mentioned that the new version of the popular action game Overwatch will be released on October 4, 2022 at 22:00. The great interest in Overwatch, which we first met in 2016, increased the excitement for Overwatch 2.

The developer team released the game as planned. Players had the opportunity to access this free-to-play game as of last night. However, there were some problems in the first stage. Players got stuck at Overwatch 2’s loading screen, and some waited for hours. Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra, who made a statement on Twitter, said that the servers were busy and that work was continuing to fix the problem. But the truth was revealed later.

Overwatch 2 servers fell victim to DDoS attack from day one!

Mike Ybarra, who made a new statement half an hour after the first statement, announced that the incident was a DDoS attack. Stating that they did their best to repel the attack, Ybarra said that players who could not enter the game or were dropped from the game also had problems due to this attack.

Mike Ybarra’s sharing and explanation on Twitter is as follows:

Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate attacks and manage the process. This is causing a lot of drops and connection issues.

Issues still don’t seem to be resolved

When we look at the official statements about the game, we see that the last statement was made by Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller. Keller, who shared a post on Twitter about 2 hours ago, said that there was a second DDoS attack and that they were working as a team to get rid of the attack. It is not yet known when the attacks will end and when the players will play Overwatch 2 in a healthy way.

Here is Aaron Keller’s post and explanation on Twitter:

We are making progress with the problems on the servers and working on a second DDoS attack. We will continue to work with our entire team. Thank you for your patience. As more information becomes available, we will share it with you.
