WhatsApp, the most popular communication platform, continues to incorporate new features to maintain its throne. The company, which worked to take the voicemail experience to the next level last year, now seems to be working overtime for group voice chat.

WhatsApp voice chat feature coming soon

According to the information revealed by WABetaInfo, the new group voice chat will create a different experience. With the new update, those in the group will now be able to start voice chat with a sound wave-like icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

After pressing this icon, a group voice chat starts. There is a microphone in the upper left corner of the page that opens and a red X on the right. Those who want to contribute to the voice chat in the group will be able to send a voice recording by clicking the microphone icon. The X icon will also turn off the voice group chat.

One good thing about WhatsApp’s new group voice chat is that unlike group calls, people in the group will not receive phone calls. Instead, it will be a notification sound just like any other WhatsApp message. Thus, there will be no inconvenience. It will also show how many people are currently chatting at the top of the chat box.

Voice chats will be protected with end-to-end encryption, just like any other message sent. In addition, voice group chat will be automatically closed if no one is active in the last 1 hour. WhatsApp voice chat is currently only available in beta for Android users, but more people are expected to get the feature soon.

WhatsApp takes communication within the group to a different dimension with its new voice chat feature. So what do you think about WhatsApp and the new group voice chat? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
