Information pollution, which emerged with the development of social media and the fact that everyone has a mini computer connected to the internet in their pocket, has become a big problem over time. Among the groups that took action to solve this problem, verification platforms, similar to which are available in our country, emerged. This has made it easier for us to verify the content we see on social media or on the internet. A new decision made by Meta paves the way for seeing less verified content in the Threads application.

There is a feature on Instagram that is not very visible, it is a setting for how often verified information will be seen. Thanks to this setting, users can choose how often they see verified information and sensitive content. Now this feature will also be available in Threads.

It is possible to see less verified information on Instagram and Threads

It will be possible to make a selection from the menu that opens by touching the two lines at the top right of the Threads profile screen, by following Account – Other account settings (this option opens Instagram) – Content preferences – Reduction by verification. Here you will find the options “Do not reduce at all”, “Reduce” and “Reduce more”.

The new feature has already started to be discussed. Some users describe the new feature as a “drama filter” and describe it as a way to block out content they don’t want to see. Other users say that this feature is specifically designed to ignore the Israeli-Palestinian war. However, it should be noted that Meta will not completely abandon moderation.
