Video chat period begins with Avatar on Instagram and WhatsApp
Finally, Meta wants to expand the use of avatars across all its platforms. Avatar, one of the biggest symbols of the Metaverse universe, is coming to all Meta platforms. The company will expand the Avatars previously featured on Instagram to Facebook and Messenger.
With the new feature, users will now be able to video chat with their Avatars instead of showing their own faces in WhatsApp and Messenger calls. Also, for the first time, the company wants Avatars to be used effectively in Instagram Stories and DMs.
Meta announced that avatars will now have legs too
Announced in December, the social VR platform Horizon Worlds has made a name for itself in the past period. As of today, some innovations will be added to this platform, which Zuckerberg attaches importance to. At the event, it was stated that avatars will now have legs.
Avatars, previously in the form of floating bodies with arms and heads, are slowly evolving. His avatar jumping for joy during Zuckerberg’s keynote was also part of the announcement. Additionally, Meta stated that there will be improvements and enhancements to their avatar skins.
Avatar legs will first appear on the Horizon Worlds platform. However, there is no information about the first release date yet. “As we develop our technology stack, they will come to more experiences over time,” Zuckerberg said. He signaled that the developments will continue.
Alongside all these developments, Meta announced that it will be an avatar store where users can spend real money to buy accessories for their avatars. It is known that Zuckerberg attaches importance to the NFT world. However, there was no mention of NFTs at the time of this statement.
