There is only a short time left for us to enter the year 2022. 2021, which we spent overcoming the challenges brought by the global epidemic, was a very full year with many developments. But many of us enter 2022 with different expectations. In this period when we want peace and serenity, Pantone has announced the ‘color of the next year’. Unlike previous years, Pantone determined the color of the next year by creating it from scratch, not by choosing ‘ready colors’.

Pantone’s color of the year 2022: ‘Very Fairy’

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, who stated that it is very important to create a new color instead of choosing one of the existing colors, says that they now look at the world from a different perspective. Describing the ‘Very Fairy’ color created for 2022 as one of the “happiest and warmest” blue tones, Eiseman also states that it is an inviting color for innovations.

Very Peri is also thought to be a color that symbolizes the ‘future’. Pantone Vice President Laurie Pressman, emphasizing the difficulties we have experienced over the past year, states that what empowers people in times like these are the feelings of ‘curiosity’ and ‘bold creativity’. Similarly, Eisemen states that the Very Peri color of 2022 conveys ‘vitality, happiness and at the same time a confident creative spirit’.

As you may remember, Shutterstock, the world-famous visual, video and music provider, also announced the colors that we will encounter the most in 2022. These three colors, chosen from the data obtained by artificial intelligence, are also very similar to Pantone’s ‘innovation’ and ‘peace’ themes.
