Steam users will get a new look with the latest update released for the desktop client. In addition to the new look in the UI, Valve stated that the latest Steam update has changed many things under the hood to improve performance on desktop, mobile and Steam Deck.

Steam has been completely revamped

In a previous Steam update, Valve aimed to improve the service’s search functionality when searching for a game or developer. In this update, Valve noted that the changes were made after the audience identified search trends on desktop and mobile devices. For example, when searching for games by series, the best games in that series and the main hub on Steam, if available, will appear first.
The June 14 update for Steam will be visible right after users update their clients. In addition to the changes made to the fonts, the Notifications tab has gained a new look for mobile and Steam Deck users. Steam’s notification system; he was basically a nuisance as he was constantly showing something new and often something you didn’t need to know. Notifications are now fragmented: clicking the icon will now show only the most recent and relevant notifications, prompting users to click to see a full history view.
The Downloads tab has also received an upgrade, and an icon for the game will now appear at the bottom of the client alongside a download bar. In addition, Mac and Linux users will be able to turn on hardware acceleration to align the Steam Desktop client with the Windows version.

Perhaps the biggest change is in the completely redesigned in-game interface. You can now have elements “pinned” so they are always visible during gameplay (and their opacity can be adjusted accordingly) and even jot down things while playing without ever leaving the game.

At the bottom of the screen is a new toolbar where users can select widgets and adjust them to their liking. One of these widgets is the new Notes feature available in the Steam Beta client build. The Notes feature will be saved to the cloud, visible first (ideal for those lost in the game) and trackable across multiple devices. Pins can also be used to embed video and browser pages in the game window for quick access. In addition to new features and new fonts, there have been some bug fixes for the Steam client, including a bug fix that affected DualSense Edge controllers shutting down. With all these changes, we see that now we will all use the Steam Deck interface.
