Technical specifications of Nvidia RTX 50 family revealed
3nm technology appears to offer a power consumption reduction of 25 to 30 percent and an additional performance advantage of 10 to 15 percent per transistor compared to N5 (NVIDIA-optimized 5nm variant). However, 3nm technology will appear with a 1.7 times increase in transistor density compared to its predecessor.
Nvidia’s HPC/AI-focused “Blackwell” architecture is expected to use TSMC’s 3nm technology along with the latest HBM3e memory solutions. It is claimed that the gaming-focused RTX 50 series will be offered to users with GDDR7 memory.
It is stated that the company will introduce both business and game-oriented products with the same naming for the first time. It is also speculated that the HPC side will likely adopt a chiplet-based design, while the gaming side will continue with monolithic chips.
DisplayPort 2.1 will appear in the GeForce RTX 50 family
Aside from the production technology, Nvidia is expected to use DisplayPort 2.1 technology in its next generation graphics cards. We should point out that the AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards introduced last year include DisplayPort 2.1 technology.
In terms of launch, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPU architecture is expected to be introduced by late 2024 or early 2025. There is not yet enough information about the pricing of the new generation graphics cards.
