Twitter has finally stumbled upon the new features and restrictions that came after Elon Musk took over. As a matter of fact, companies that rightly thought that users who gave up using Twitter would search for new ones decided to take action. First, Meta made its move with Threads. Now, TikTok, which wants to hit the fallen again, has announced a feature that will be a rival to Twitter.
TikTok announces text posts to rival Twitter!
Twitter owner Elon Musk made some questionable decisions over the weekend despite complaints from social network users. After renaming Twitter’s logo “X” and promising to bring a host of new features that no one wanted, Musk now faces another big problem: tough competition.
Meta’s attempt to take over Twitter wasn’t entirely successful because Threads still needs a lot of features to deliver a similar user experience. However, another competitor to replace Twitter took the first step to realize their plans. TikTok has announced a new feature, text posts, that offers users a Twitter-like experience.
This is a feature that allows creators to share their stories and other types of content in a different and simpler way. The new feature is available starting today and is pretty simple to use. When you access the camera page, you will now be able to choose from three options: photo, video and text. Tapping on the text option will redirect users to the text creation page where they can type the content of their post.
This feature is not as fast and smooth as tweeting a message, but considering TikTok is a video-first platform, this move can be considered a signal to follow. Besides creating posts, TikTok users can customize their content by including audio, tagging locations, enabling comments and allowing duets.
Also in the near future, TikTok will enrich text posts and make them more dynamic beyond what Twitter currently offers. Features such as adding hashtags to posts, adding stickers, customizing the background color, and even popular topics for posts can be made available. This makes TikTok suddenly an alternative to Twitter.
