TikTok will tag artificial intelligence-generated content
Fake video production, called deepfake, has become easy for end users. Social media platforms, which want to prevent the rapid spread of fake photos and videos, come up with solutions they have developed.
The company makes it clear to creators that any AI-generated content must be tagged. Thanks to the new tag feature, users will be able to understand whether the created content is fake.
Under “more options” on TikTok’s video loading screen, there is an option for content created by artificial intelligence. TikTok states that the hashtag will help prevent “content removal,” and that the platform may remove untagged content for violating its community guidelines.
TikTok has banned deepfake videos from the app, along with the community guidelines it updated in 2020. The company defines deepfake videos as “Digital Frauds (Synthetic Media or Manipulated Media) that distort the reality of events, mislead users and cause significant harm to the subject of the video, other individuals or society.”
Last week, it was reported that Instagram is working on similar hashtags for AI-generated content. The new feature, which has not yet been implemented, will serve a similar purpose with the tab in TikTok.
