MediaTek is one of the important names in the mobile processor market. The company introduced the Dimensity 8300 chipset, a new player in the mid-range smartphone market. This chip is designed to provide performance improvements and energy efficiency over its predecessors and competitors.
The Dimensity 8300 processor is based on TSMC’s 2nd generation 4nm process. However, it has an eight-core CPU consisting of 4 ARM Cortex-A715 cores and 4 ARM Cortex-A510 cores. In addition, the company says that the new chipset has a 20 percent performance increase compared to the previous model.
Apart from performance, he also adds that it consumes 30 percent less power. As for the GPU part, the processor consumes 55 percent less power. In the performance department, it includes the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, which offers 60 percent more performance. Additionally, Dimensity features a new dedicated APU 780 AI processor that can run generative AI models.
On the other hand, the company also increased the maximum RAM speed support from 6400MHz to 8300MHz. This means a 33 percent improvement when it comes to multitasking. Dimensity 8200 supports UFS 3.1 storage while Dimensity 8300 supports UFS 4.0, the newest standard.
Another important improvement is the ability to record 4K video at 60 fps, which is compatible with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. MediaTek introduced a feature that allows users to record 4K HDR videos on two cameras simultaneously. It also says that the new processor can reach peak download speeds of up to 5.17Gbps on 5G networks. The company also states that there is Wi-Fi 6E support, which increases the bandwidth by 2 times compared to the previous one.
