WhatsApp is preparing to start a new era in video calls. The screen sharing feature, which has been tested in WhatsApp Beta for Android for a while, has finally been released for the stable version. Thus, you will be able to share your screen during video calls.
WhatsApp gains screen sharing and landscape mode support
The popular messaging app has launched two new important features for video calls. Offering screen sharing and landscape mode support, WhatsApp aims to improve the video calling experience. It will also compete with tools such as Zoom and Google Meet with these features.
Announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the screen sharing feature will allow users to share their phone or computer screens with other participants during a video call. It should be noted that the feature will be available in Android, iOS and Windows applications.
The new feature appeals to people who use WhatsApp for different purposes. You will be able to work on a file with your colleagues, or you will be able to get ideas from family members while shopping online.
A new ‘Share’ icon will appear during the video call to use screen sharing. After clicking this button it will be possible to share an application window or the entire screen. However, let’s also mention that WhatsApp will ask for some permissions for screen sharing.
WhatsApp will also offer landscape mode support for video calls. Users can now chat by rotating their smartphones horizontally. This will also make screen sharing easier. WhatsApp will launch two new features globally in the coming days.
