GitHub has lifted its code structure and network information ban on Tornado Cash (TORN), which has been blacklisted by the US.

The blacklisting of Tornado Cash by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control last month was on the agenda. Stating that cybercriminals use TORN as a money laundering method, the Office did not hesitate to impose heavy sanctions.

GitHub Gives Opportunity To Tornado Cash After New Developments

Recently, GitHub announced that it blocked Tornado Cash, which was blacklisted and subject to various sanctions. This blocking, which was made to ensure the safety of communities, was lifted after statements from the USA.

Statements from the USA include:

“U.S. persons shall not be prohibited by U.S. sanctions regulation from copying open source code and making it available online for others to view, as well as discuss, teach, or include open source code in written publications.”

After the explanations and developments, GitHub approved the platform access of the blacklisted cryptocurrency. He announced that he will publish the documents belonging to Tornado Cash and make them active in the communities. However, the platform did not give TORN full authority. He stated that the data that will only be read-only cannot be changed in any way.

Therefore, users will be able to open and read the codes on the platform, but will not be able to make any changes. It will be available in read-only form to enable communities to chat, discuss, exchange content and ideas.
