After the upcoming Arrow Lake Refresh processor lineup, Intel will turn its mountain to 1st Gen Core Ultra processors. The features of the 1st Gen Core Ultra processors, which appeared a while ago, give us an idea of what can be expected on the horizon.

The information revealed includes Core Ultra 9 185H, Core Ultra 7 165H, Core Ultra 7 155H and Core Ultra 7 125H processors. The first three of these chips will be aimed at the high end within the Core Ultra mainstream family.

Intel Core Ultra features

Judging from the technical specifications, it seems that the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU could be the flagship with 6+8+2 core configuration. This includes 6 Performance (P-Core) cores based on the Redwood Cove architecture, 8 Efficiency (E-Core) cores in the Crestmont architecture, and an additional two E-Cores using the same architecture within the SOC. It looks like the chip will operate at a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and boost up to 4.5 GHz (nominal) and 5.1 GHz with TVB technology. Geekbench scores of this processor have also appeared. Judging by the scores, the Core Ultra 9 185H will fall between the Core i9-13900H and the faster Ryzen 7 7745HX in terms of performance.

The second processor model, the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H, has a peak frequency of 5.0 GHz and a base frequency of 3.8. This processor is considered to be the Core Ultra 9 185H with reduced frequency. Other features are common. We see a similar situation in the Core Ultra 7 155H. It is stated that this processor can reach a maximum clock speed of 4.8 Ghz.

The Intel Core Ultra 5 125H is a slightly weaker model. The processor, which works in the 3.60 GHz base clock and 4.5 GHz range, has a 4+8+2 configuration. Core Ultra 5 125H, HP Omen Transcend gaming computer revealed. It scored 2208 points and 11563 points in single-core and multi-core, respectively, in Geekbench. That score places it between the Core i7-13700H and the faster Ryzen 7 7840HS.

Of course, these are just leaks and more information will emerge as the release dates of the processors approach. These chips will also be configured around 28-35W minimum and 45W nominal TDP targets. Below are some of the main features you can expect from the 1st Gen Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” family:

  • Triple-Hybrid CPU architecture (P/E/LP-E Cores)
  • Brand New Redwood Cove (P-Core)
  • Brand New Crestmont (E-Core)
  • Configure up to 14 cores (6+8) for H/P series and up to 12 cores (4+8) for U series CPUs
  • Intel 4 compute processes for CPU, TSMC for tGPU
  • Intel ‘Xe-MTL’ GPU unit can go up to 128 EU
  • Support up to LPDDR5X-7467 and DDR5-5200
  • Support up to 96GB DDR5 and 64GB LPDDR5X
  • Intel VPU for AI
  • x8 Gen 5 line for external GPU (H series only)
  • Triple x4 M.2 Gen 4 SSD support
  • Four Thunderbolt 4 ports
