According to the statement from Chinese ByteDance, TikTok Now has been officially unplugged. TikTok, the most popular platform in the short video world, did not succeed with the BeReal clone application. In the post on the subject, he stated that “Tiktok experience has been updated and TikTok Now has been terminated”.
TikTok Now was introduced in September to facilitate “real and spontaneous connections.” It attracted attention with its striking resemblance to BeReal. Unlike BeReal, which only allows sharing over photos, it came to the fore with its support for both videos and photos up to 10 seconds.
TikTok Now was in the main app for users in the US. However, ByteDance offered it as a separate application in various regions around the world. It should be reminded that it is also offered as an application in our country.
The Chinese developer did not detail why it canceled the platform. However, considering that BeReal-style tools are not used as before, the number of users of Now may have decreased. For example, in 2023, there was a 60 percent decrease in the number of daily users of BeReal.
