Intel clarified the Intel Application Optimization (APO) technology introduced with the 14th Generation Raptor Lake Refresh processors. It was said that this technology, which offers an FPS increase of up to 32 percent in certain games, would also come to older generation processors. But the final decision has been made. The Alder Lake and Raptor Lake series will be skipped.

Intel APO bypasses 11th and 12th generation processors

In a recent interview, Intel confirmed that Application Optimization technology will be limited to 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh processors only and will not reach older generation models. However, details such as why this did not work or technical capabilities were not disclosed.

For those who missed it, since the Alder Lake processors, Intel Core processors have been coming with a hybrid design consisting of performance and efficiency cores.14. Intel APO or Application Optimization, which was introduced specifically for the next generation processors, prioritizes P-cores and ensures that games run in a more optimized manner. Moreover, in addition to improving performance, E-Cores are put in the background and power consumption drops to double digits.

We should point out that this technology, which is currently available, is limited to only two games, Rainbow Six Siege and Metro Exodus. It was stated that this list would be updated in the future, but almost a month has passed since the release of Raptor Lake Refresh and the situation has still not changed.

As you know, both Raptor Lake and Alder Lake have similar architecture to 14th Generation desktop processors. Therefore, this decision may cause Intel a headache unless there is a valid reason.
