As you know, Microsoft has made great progress in recent years when it comes to PC gaming, thanks to the Xbox app and PC Game Pass. Now, the Xbox application, which is frequently used by Game Pass subscribers, is getting brand new features. The current version is now available for access.

Xbox app updated for PC

The latest update shared for the Xbox application brings a number of functional features, especially for Game Pass subscribers. The first of these is the Compact mode, designed specifically for handheld consoles. As you can see above, this feature provides significant space savings on small screen devices. However, we should point out that when this mode is activated, the games can only be accessed from the My Library section. You can access the new feature by clicking on your profile icon in the top left menu.

Another change in the application is specific to notifications. Now, instead of all notifications, a section has been added where you can view only unread notifications. Additionally, Microsoft is also rolling out a new Game Service Repair Tool to fix Game Service-related issues or missing content when launching the Xbox app.

Also, innovations are not limited to the Xbox application only. For those who missed it, when you purchase a game from the Microsoft Store, you can now choose a drive or location on your computer to install it. This feature, which was previously exclusive to the Xbox application, was made available with Windows 11 version 22310, released in recent weeks.
