The iOS 17.2 update that Apple will release soon will bring support for the new generation Qi2 wireless charging standard to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models. In the newly released iOS 17.2 RC version, it was revealed that this support, which is already available on iPhone 15 models, will also come to older models.

Qi2 is the next generation Qi wireless charging technology that includes magnetic power profile. With the addition of new standard support, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models will work with Qi2 wireless chargers. Qi2 devices will work as accessories that support MagSafe, which uses magnets for easy alignment and faster charging.

Although Qi2 wireless chargers can charge devices at up to 15W, it is not yet clear whether iPhones will support faster wireless charging speeds with Qi2 accessories. Although the iPhone 15 supports Qi2 wireless charging, Apple states that the devices support Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W.
