Game Industry announced its report on game and console sales in Europe in October 2023. The study revealed that the best-selling game console in Europe was PlayStation 5, while Xbox was the only console whose sales decreased.
Only Xbox sales dropped
In the research, the best-selling console in markets other than the United Kingdom and Germany was by far the PlayStation 5. Sales of the console in October increased by 143% compared to the same period last year. Nintendo Switch maintains its second place despite selling 20% lower than last year. The Xbox Series X/S series showed a 52% decrease compared to last year.
Total console sales in October were 481 thousand. Console peripheral products and accessories reached sales of 1.14 million units. Accessory sales decreased by 3.6% compared to last year. Sales in the wallet/cards area also decreased by 4%, with 969,818 cards sold.
On the other hand, there are different assumptions about the reasons for this decline in Xbox.
