READING NOW TikTok now supports text posts
While TikTok was initially a short video platform, it later added visual support to videos in order to compete with Instagram. Now, TikTok brings text-based posting to the platform.

The new option will allow users to share their stories, poems, lyrics and other written content on the platform, giving them another way to express themselves. Now the user who wants to post in the app will be presented with three options: photo, video and text. In text input mode, the user will be able to customize the content by adding voices, specifying locations, enabling comments and allowing duets.

The timing is significant

TikTok claims that text messages will be as interactive and dynamic as any video or photo. Stickers and hashtags are provided and a variety of background colors can be chosen. Users will be able to create and save message drafts for later editing or deleting altogether.

The timing of TikTok’s decision to add support for text posts is significant. Because as Twitter is actively dealing with radical changes and rebranding, now is a good time to hunt down some of this platform, which has millions of users. The growing popularity of the recently released Threads app also supports this decision. Of course, TikTok’s text message format is different from Twitter and so it may appeal to a younger audience.
