READING NOW The long wait is over: WhatsApp is coming to iPad!

WhatsApp, the world’s most used and popular messaging app, has never offered an app for iPad. Instead, iPad users who wanted to use the platform had to use the web version of WhatsApp using a mobile browser. This was one of the needs that users had been bothering and demanding for a long time. The good news could only come this year.

Beta process has started: WhatsApp is on its way to iPad

The incident has been mentioned many times from time to time, including a few years ago when Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart were discussing a possible iPad app for WhatsApp in a group chat. However, we are talking for sure now because this situation occurred in the beta version.

It turns out that the latest version of WhatsApp Beta (version 23.19.1.71), which is available only from Apple’s TestFlight application, is compatible with iPad. To install WhatsApp on your iPad, you need to be a member of the WhatsApp for iOS official beta program at TestFlight. Once installed, you will need to scan a QR code using your iPhone. The app will then download all your conversations and you’ll be able to send and receive messages from your iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Once the app is installed on the iPad, users will be able to use WhatsApp on the iPad regardless of whether their iPhone is nearby or not, even if the devices do not share the same Wi-Fi network. This new app, similar to the WhatsApp version for desktop, is limited in that you cannot open a new WhatsApp account from the app. However, many users are not looking for this anyway.

It is unknown when all users will be able to access this app, and as we said, the Beta is only available on Apple’s TestFlight. This means there are limited quantities. However, this will change when the app becomes available on the App Store.

We should point out that WhatsApp’s sibling, Instagram, also does not offer an app for iPad. Both WhatsApp and Instagram were acquired by the company then known as Facebook in February 2014 and April 2012, respectively. Of course, this application of WhatsApp came much later than expected and requested. It is debatable whether this was that difficult to do. But as a result, users got what they wanted.
