The standard iPhone 14 models were not Apple’s best models. The research conducted by SimpleGhar also shows that this iPhone, which has very few changes compared to the iPhone 13, lost more value than all other models within a year.

The research, conducted with information obtained about more than 1,000 technology products listed in used condition on Amazon US and UK, compared to their original prices, revealed that the iPhone 14 lost 24.69 percent of its retail value when new and used phone prices were compared. On the other hand, iPhone 13 lost 16.62 percent and iPhone 12 lost 10 percent.

One of the reasons why the iPhone 14 experienced this price drop is its similarities with the iPhone 13: Same design, similar cameras and A15 Bionic chip. However, most users probably thought it was more valuable to keep or buy the iPhone 13 rather than upgrading to last year’s base model.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max lost 20.16 percent of its original price, followed by the 14 Plus (-18.84 percent) and 14 Pro (-16.83 percent).

However, any iPhone 14 model still has a higher value compared to Android smartphones. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S22 lost 40% of its value after one year, more than any other smartphone. Even though the Galaxy S22 also got a minor update, it’s still a lot.

Overall, OnePlus devices lost more value than any other tech brand (21.82 percent). In addition to the iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 6 (21.89 percent) and Apple Watch Series 7 (21.81 percent) were among the Apple products that lost the most value over time.
