Billionaire Jeff Bezos’ space transportation company Blue Origin is making its second space trip today. Last week, the company announced that they have signed on with actor William Shatner, who plays Captain Kirk in the Star Trek series. The 90-year-old star player became the oldest person to fly into space.

In July, the company made its first space tourism trip with Bezos, along with 82-year-old Wally Funk, Bezos’ brother Mark, and 19-year-old Oliver Daemen.

Blue Origin launches second journey

The space company’s journey today will take approximately 11 minutes. The journey, which was expected to start at 17.30 TSI, started at 17.50 after delays. The crew that flew into space with the New Shepard capsule consisted of four people.

Blue Origin also reserved a seat for Audrey Powers, vice president of mission and flight operations, on today’s trip. The four-person team also included former Australian NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen. Also on board was Glen de Vries, founder of clinical research platform Medidata Solutions.

New Shepard’s 18th mission, NS-18, flies to the edge of space, the Kármán Line. Blue Origin broadcast the flight live.

It has been announced that the NS-18 mission will be launched on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. However, it was delayed one day due to expected winds in Texas. Astronauts did not wear helmets to enhance the “human experience,” ABC News reported.

The capsule carrying the crew has landed on earth.

Blue Origin team crossed the Karman Line and experienced the zero gravity environment for a few minutes. Finally, at 6:00 PM, he returned to Earth before the booster capsule. Then the capsule landed successfully at exactly 18.00.
