After GTA 5 was released in 2013, players waited for the new game for years. Although Rockstar Games has been very secretive about this issue until recently, it finally officially announced GTA 6 and shared the first trailer. While the first GTA 6 trailer was watched millions of times in just hours, it was also appreciated by the gaming community. The first trailer of GTA 6 reached 85 million views in just 22 hours, breaking the record of the MrBeast video for the most YouTube views in 24 hours (59.4 million). The trailer video has now exceeded 99 million views. This ranking does not include music videos; the music video of K-Pop giant BTS’s song “Butter” is at the top with 108 million views.
The excitement for GTA 6 has been going on for ten years. The last game in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released more than 10 years ago, in September 2013. According to Guinness World Records, it earned $815.7 million from sales of 11.21 million copies on its release day, breaking the record for “the highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours.” It remains the second best-selling video game of all time, behind Minecraft.
With GTA 6, Rockstar Games has a few more records to break. However, GTA 6 will be released in 2023. Although Rockstar announced that the game would come for consoles, it did not share any details for PC. The PC version of the game may probably come out later – like GTA 5.
