Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, released for Xbox and PC in 2003, is still considered one of the most successful games of Star Wars, even though 20 years have passed. Following this success, Embracer Group announced KOTOR: Remake, stating that they would renew Bioware’s original project in 2021. However, according to allegations, the production developed for Playstation 5 may have been cancelled.

KOTOR: Work on the remake has been stopped

Jeff Grub, known for his sources close to the gaming world, talked about Star Wars: KOTOR on the Game Mess Mornings program. “I want to make this clear, this game is not currently being worked on,” Grub said. “This game is not being worked on in any way by any studio,” he said, disappointing those who were waiting for the production.

The production, which was planned to be released exclusively for Playstation 5, was initially developed by Aspyr Media, but Embracer transferred the project to Saber Interactive last year. Continuing the program, Grub stated that the project may have been transferred to another studio later. Despite all this, the problems experienced during the development process seem to have pushed Embracer Group to cancel the project. Neither Embracer Group nor Saber Interactive have yet made any statement regarding the allegations.
