While it is being investigated whether there are other life forms other than planet Earth, the possibility of humanity living on other planets in space is also a matter of curiosity. With this curiosity, researchers discovered rocks containing hydrogen on the surface of the Moon. These rocks, discovered by the Apollo spacecraft, consist of pieces broken off from the Sun.

Researchers focused on the possibility that the hydrogen found in these rock pieces could combine with the oxygen on the Moon, although it is rare.

A total of 382 kilos of rocks were brought from the Moon with Apollo.

Some of the rock samples brought were examined. The rest was preserved for future research. The US Naval Research Laboratory team, led by Katherine D. Burgess and team members Brittany A. Cymes and Rhonda M. Stroud, said that water can form when the oxygen in the Moon combines with the hydrogen contained in pieces broken off from the Sun.

Transmission electron microscopy was used for the samples examined. This microscope uses electron particle beams. Thus, visualizing samples and creating review images makes the job of researchers easier.

Weather conditions in space may have been discovered!

Examining the grains of apatite and merrillite minerals, the research team discovered that there are weather conditions in space due to the wind created by the Sun. The wind created by the Sun consists of charged particles flying outward from the Sun at speeds of up to 1.6 million km per hour.

The hydrogen seen in pieces broken off by the wind created by the Sun may shed light on the discoveries that researchers will make in the future and perhaps the formation of life on the Moon.
