Sony has officially unveiled its new flagship phone, the Xperia 5 V, during IFA 2023. Describing the phone as the first product of choice for content creators, the Japanese company even compares the camera of this smartphone with the Alpha 7 III, as both cameras are quite impressive in low-light environments.
Sony says it brings high tech to the Xperia 5 V, with features like a bright 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, this device has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and can be upgraded with a microSD card.
In addition, Sony emphasizes that this smartphone is similar to Bravia TVs.
Unlike its predecessor, Sony uses the dual layout for the Xperia 5 V camera modules. The primary camera has a resolution of 1/1.35 inches 52 MP, the same as the Xperia 1 V, and a 12 MP ultra-wide lens of f/2.2, 16 mm. Both use Zeiss optical lenses with Sony sensors and deliver high-quality images and videos at up to 4K at 120fps.
BGRThe Japanese firm believes in this new phone so much that it offers it with digital zoom technology, like Google’s latest high-end Pixel phone, instead of a telephoto lens. Sony says this technology is better than ever.
In addition to these camera features, Sony also offers a Video Creator app. The company says you can “create and edit videos in a few simple steps by selecting clips from your media library.” This app seems to have an interface similar to popular video editing apps like Capcut and Instagram’s built-in editor.
Sony Xperia 5 V has an all-day battery life with a capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports 33W fast and wireless charging. While the new processor will be the same as the previous year, it will make the phone more efficient. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The new Xperia is available in black, white and blue color options and will be available in Europe for 999 euros.
