Apple introduced the long-awaited mixed reality glasses Vision Pro on June 5. While the glasses increased the interest in the virtual and augmented reality sector, it also accelerated its competitors as can be expected. Now the battle for dominance in the mixed reality world has begun.

Big news came from Samsung, the biggest candidate to rival Apple in this war. China-based news platform Vrtuoluo shared the images and some features of a device that is said to be the prototype of Samsung’s mixed reality glasses. On the other hand, the news was removed shortly after.

Samsung’s mixed reality glasses prototype:

Allegedly, the title you see above is a prototype of Samsung’s mixed reality glasses, which is expected to be released in 2024. Of course, since this device is a prototype, it may not have the final touches in terms of design. The device is similar to today’s glasses, which is not innovative according to Vision Pro.

The prototype houses four follow-up cameras, two RGB cameras for color transition to the glasses, and a depth sensor, according to information from various sources. It also doesn’t offer any hand-held controllers, just like the Vision Pro. In other words, the interface will be managed entirely by hand and eye movements.

In addition, the glasses house micro-screens with OLED panels. In addition, Samsung has preferred the Exynos 2200 chipset, which is not its long-time partner Qualcomm, but its own production for glasses.

The most important part is the price!

While Samsung’s prototype isn’t very appealing in appearance, its price changes that. The device will allegedly have a tag in the $1000-2000 range. Apple set a price of $ 3,500 for the Vision Pro.

Of course, it is highly unlikely that this prototype will be released in its current form. Samsung may be using this prototype only to test its hardware and interface. However, this new information indicates that we will get more information from the company’s mixed reality glasses project in the near future.
