Samsung has given the green light to the rollable phone!

Samsung Display unveiled two concepts, Rollable Flex and Flex In & Out. Recent advances in screen technology provide new clues about devices after foldable phones. With these two concept screen designs, Samsung also opened the first door for a rollable phone.

Samsung showed off Rollable Flex and Flex In & Out displays

Samsung showed its new concept works at the SID Display Week event held in Los Angeles. Rollable Flex and Flex In & Out, according to the company; It will shape the future of tablets, laptops and smartphones.

The Rollable Flex display opens by rotating it along an “O” shaped axis. After this opening, it can be expanded from 49 mm (1.9 inches) to 254.4 mm (10.10 inches). This makes large-sized screens portable.

Another concept work, Flex In & Out, allows phones to be folded in or out multiple times. This screen technology, which allows to run more than one application in a folded way, will greatly expand the usage areas of the phones.

In addition to the Rollable Flex and Flex In & Out, Samsung Display also showed off another display concept. The new model, called Flex Hybrid, offers a folding and slidable screen at the same time. The Flex Solo, for example, allows the screen to expand from 13 inches to 17 inches.

While the new displays shown at SID Display Week are eye-catching, Samsung has refrained from sharing any release dates. In other words, it should be noted that they are purely concept studies and it is unclear which model it will be used for first.
