Samsung, which continues to distribute Android 14 without slowing down, has started to focus on entry and mid-segment devices, especially recently. So much so that more than 35 models are expected to get the new version by the end of the year. However, while this was going on, a strange problem emerged specifically for One UI 6.0. Users say that there are permanent marks on the screen after the update.

The cause of the problem has been revealed

For those who don’t know, burn-in or screen burning is one of the biggest problems of OLED panels. Although manufacturers today have greatly alleviated this problem, it is not completely solved. Factors such as high temperature also accelerate this process. However, the interesting point here is that the problem is entirely software.

For those who missed it, Samsung today includes a feature called pixel shifting to address the burn-in or permanent scar problem. You may have seen this on your OLED TVs or monitors. On mobile devices, it runs in the background. The new problem is completely related to this. So much so that it was stated that this feature, which is available in One UI 5.0, works in a limited way in One UI 6.0.

We can see this clearly in the screenshots shared on Niketim Reddit. While most parts of the screen are protected, overlapping occurs in the notification and navigation bar.

Samsung has not yet shared an official statement about the new problem. However, it has almost been confirmed that it is due to the pixel shifting feature. Therefore, we think that a new update will be released very soon. At this point, do not forget to follow the latest updates on your Galaxy smartphone.
