Online photo and video platform Instagram announced that it is testing two new features focused on improving the user experience. The first of the announced features will be advantageous for users to view content related to the areas they are really interested in. The second feature is important for the content producer rather than the end user. However, even if this is the case, all users will be impressed by this new feature. Let’s take a closer look at the new features tested on Instagram.

While browsing the Discover or Reels pages of Instagram, you can use the “I’m not interested” option for the content you don’t want to see. This algorithm triggering option makes similar posts show less. The new feature, which is in the testing phase, will offer the opposite of this situation. Thanks to this new feature, the user will have the opportunity to see more of the content in the categories they are interested in.

With the “I’m interested” option, posts that are actually of your interest will show more!

The “I’m Interested” button to be added to Instagram will be a new algorithm triggering option for the Discover & Reels page. Let’s say you are a football fan. When you say I’m Interested in football-related content, you will start to see football-related content much more. This new feature can help you completely get rid of content you don’t want to see.

Watermarked videos will show less on the Reels page

Another innovation in Instagram is related to TikTok, although it is not clearly stated. Videos on TikTok, Instagram’s strongest competitor, have a watermark. In the statement made by Instagram, it was stated that without TikTok’s name, watermarked content will be shown less in the Reels section. The platform will also start showing creators a notification about it. When the creator receives this notification, he will understand that the video he shared is only shown to the followers. Instagram seems to have taken such a decision because it is uncomfortable with the abundance of TikTok videos on its Reels page.
