MediaTek started processor production with its factory opened in Taiwan in 1997. The company, which has been producing chipsets and customized CPUs for many phones over the years, has declined with the introduction of smartphones into our lives. For many years, the company continued to exist in the market thanks to the processors it produced for entry and mid-range phones. Leaks started about the company’s Dimensity 2000 model, which had a good break with the new Dimensity family.
MediaTek, which is on the agenda all over the world with the Dimensity 1000 processor it introduced in 2019, also announced the Dimensity 1200 model without interrupting its work. The first processor of the series had gone through the 7nm production process with the technologies of that day. The next new model was produced as 6nm. But the biggest progress is expected to come with Dimensity 2000. Moreover, this time, it can be one step ahead of its competitors.
MediaTek Dimensity 2000 is coming to be its flagship!
The Taiwanese processor manufacturer has brought 5G to entry and mid-range devices, thanks to its new Dimensity series. The company, which had a very low smartphone market share in the past, closed the gap with its new series. Now his goal is to overtake his opponents. MediaTek is said to be among the first to place an order for the Dimensity 2000 at TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing facilities. This new technology, which uses the Armv9 architecture, can be a direct competitor of the Snapdragon 898 and even one step ahead.
The main core of the 8-core processor, which comes with a sequence we know from Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 898, will be Cortex-X2 running at 3.0 GHz. Its three cores will be Cortex-A710, and the other 4 cores will be A510. On the GPU (Graphic processor) side, it is rumored to be the Mali-G710 MC10.
Samsung is expected to use AMD’s GPUs in the future. Huawei, on the other hand, is having trouble producing chipsets for its new Kirin processors. For this reason, MediaTek may be the first manufacturer to use this new G710 GPU.
Expected release date for MediaTek Dimensity 2000
The processor, which comes with the new ARM architecture and will go through 4nm production, will consume 25 percent less power while giving higher performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898. Although the MediaTek processors we have encountered so far have lagged behind their competitors in terms of performance and charging times, the route of the smartphone market can be drawn from the beginning with the new series. Dimensity 2000 was scheduled to be released later this year. However, if the chip was affected by the production crisis in the pandemic process, it could be delayed to the beginning of 2022.
