NASA published the UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) and UAP (Unidentified Abnormal Event) report, created by an independent research team it formed last year. Although it was stated in the report that no extraterrestrial presence was detected, it was stated that artificial intelligence should be used to analyze the data.

UFOs and artificial intelligence

NASA recently released a highly anticipated report on Unidentified Anomalous Events (UAPs), or more commonly known as UFOs. The report is an independent study conducted by 16 community members with a variety of expertise and evaluates the U.S. government’s knowledge of UFOs. And the report concludes that there is not enough clear data to determine the origin of these objects.

The report is not only about whether aliens exist, but also includes many recommendations for collecting much clearer and more precise data about UAPs. The report specifically recommends adopting sophisticated data analysis techniques involving artificial intelligence and machine learning. The study highlights the need to combine AI-powered tools with a comprehensive UFO detection campaign that includes systematic data collection and robust curation. By the way, not only weather events are included in the scope of UAP. Anomalies in the sea, land or deep space are also included. In other words, the range of data is quite large and artificial intelligence can make the analysis process more efficient.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in his statement that the study team did not find any evidence that UAPs have an extraterrestrial origin, but they still do not know what they are. The report also recommends encouraging more crowdsourcing contributions to data collection. NASA may create open source smartphone-based applications for this in the future.
