New performance upgrade does not affect electric range

Recently, subscription systems that allow us to receive services for a monthly or annual fee have become very popular. This system has now come to the automotive industry as well. Automaker Mercedes-Benz announced plans to upgrade performance as a subscription service in November 2022.

As a result of the news today, it turned out that the company has completed the details about the service. It has become clear that the company will offer different options depending on the wishes of the users in the subscription system. Accordingly, users will be able to choose between a one-time purchase or monthly and annual options for the lifetime of the vehicle.

The performance upgrade is optionally available to Mercedes EWE 350 4Matic and Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic Sedan and SUV customers in the USA and Canada. This subscription is in the form of an Over-the-Air (OTA) update.

Overall, the subscription service offers improvement. It increases the vehicle’s output by 60 horsepower in the EQE and 80 horsepower in the EQS. This improves acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour by a full second. In general, the power of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4Matic models is increased from 288 hp to 348 hp.

The 0-100 km acceleration time is shortened by a full second for the SUV to 5.2 seconds, and for the Sedan to 0.9 seconds for 5.1 seconds. According to the company, these performance improvements are achieved without affecting the electric range of the vehicles. Also, thanks to the OTA integration, there is no need to go to a dealer for an On-Demand Acceleration Boost upgrade. The subscription fee is as follows:

  • Lifetime: $1,950
  • Monthly: $60
  • Annual: $600
