Mercedes-Benz, one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, brings us its electric cars developed for a more sustainable future. Announcing that it will install wind turbines in Germany recently, the company has now made important statements about the electric version of the iconic SUV model G Series.
First of all, it should be noted that the German-based automaker introduced the concept of this vehicle last year. While the excited wait for the electric version of this model, which is not popular in our country but around the world, continues, the company announced with new statements when we will see the G Series, which will be named EQG, on the roads.
Electric G-Series to arrive at the end of 2024
Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius stated in a statement to members of the media that the electric G-Class will arrive by the end of 2024. Källenius also stated that he tried the vehicle in a facility in Austria and that he had great pleasure. The 53-year-old manager stated that this experience convinced him about electric off-road vehicles, adding: “From now on, going off-road will be electric.”
The electrification of the G Series is one of the auto giant’s steps towards its electrification goals. The Germany-based company plans to switch all new vehicle architectures to electric models by 2025, and to switch to fully electric cars by 2030.
Eye-catching design and features of the Mercedes-Benz EQG
Let’s also take a look at the shared features of the Electric G Series so far. First of all, we understand from the shared images that the car has a futuristic design without spoiling the classic G-series look.
The front grille of the vehicle is illuminated with LEDs, the bright 22-inch wheels that bring to mind the vehicles of the 90s, and the white lines that equip it all attract attention. In addition, the lights on the roof of the car do not go unnoticed. Regular G-series cars also have the rear section EQG, which carries a spare tire. However, this part is not for the tire, as you can tell from its shape. Saluting the classic G-series look, the section is designed to put things like charging cables.
EQG, which will have zero emissions, seems to offer a good experience in off-road conditions with its dual gear system while incorporating four engines close to the wheel. There is no information about the horsepower or range of the vehicle yet.
When we come to the interior of the vehicle, we encounter a design that we are familiar with from Mercedes-Benz vehicles. However, it can be said that the interior will come in a slightly more modernized way compared to other cars. In addition, the EQG does not have a giant screen that we see in other electric models EQS and EQE.
