Marvel Will Focus On Quality, Not Numbers In Phases 5 and 6

It is very difficult to say that Marvel movies and TV series have given what is expected lately. The common point of many criticisms was that the productions were generally disconnected from each other, could not achieve a general tone, and were below the usual in terms of visual effects.

While it was stated that such criticisms also came from within Marvel, it was announced that changes would be made in Phase 5 and 6 as a result of “negative feedback from the inside”. The most important of these changes is that Marvel will focus on the quality of production rather than the number of productions.

Even Marvel didn’t like Phase 4

Disney, who does not want the decline of Phase 4 to be in Phase 5 and 6, can establish a general control over Marvel productions. This may lead to delays or even direct cancellations in works that are currently being prepared for production.

Productions that came after Phase 3, which ended with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, were the subject of serious criticism. VFX firms have also been accused of exploiting artists, placing too tight deadlines and overworking Marvel. Upon the reactions from the industry, the establishment of a VFX department within Marvel was on the agenda for a while.

Although the expectations of Marvel fans before Phase 4 were high, a disconnect emerged between the films released at this stage over time. Moon Knight, Ms. Productions such as Marvel, She-Hulk, Thor: Love and Thunder were generally criticized for being too disconnected from each other.

Kevin Feige defended Phase 4.

Kevin Feige, who opposed these criticisms at the time, said that this is exactly the feature of Phase 4, that they wanted to create a series that did not depend on a single tone, but had a certain spirit, style and emotion. It is not yet known how stubborn Feige can be in this opinion.

The next phases for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are already in trouble. While the director of the Fantastic Four movie was changed, Blade was also suspended due to the change of director. It seems that Marvel will focus on making cinema productions less but of higher quality in the future. In addition, productions such as The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Werewolf by Night will be given more chances due to the cost advantage.
