Russian spacecraft Progress MS-23 burned up in the atmosphere!

On Wednesday, astronauts of the International Space Station ISS witnessed an interesting moment. Russian spacecraft burned up in the atmosphere. The Progress MS-23 spacecraft, identified by NASA as Progress 84, docked with the orbital outpost. The Progress MS-23 cargo ship docked at the ISS in May. He brought with him supplies such as food and equipment for the astronauts. The space agency has fully planned this spectacular event. In fact, the burning of Russian cargo ships leaving the ISS was part of a procedure.

The most interesting thing was that the crew on the space station also witnessed the burning of the Russian spacecraft. Images resembling a firework explosion emerged. Additionally, NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli took some photos of the spacecraft’s final moments.

Jasmin Moghhbeli came to the ISS for the first time in August. She had the opportunity to witness unforgettable moments. Moghbeli shared a social media post containing the dramatic footage. In his post; “Earlier today, the Roscosmos cargo vehicle Progress separated from the space station.” she wrote.

The American astronaut said that the spacecraft remained in orbit for six months. He also added that he detected that the Russian spacecraft burned about four hours after leaving the space station. Additionally, Moghbeli said, “It happened faster than I thought. We only had the opportunity to see it for 2-3 minutes. It reminded me a bit of fireworks. Especially when it falls apart.” said.

Unlike SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, the Progress vehicle cannot be reused. Therefore, destroying it by burning it in the Earth’s atmosphere is the most effective way to get rid of it. The Progress spacecraft also acts as a giant garbage bin.
