Apple recently released iOS 16.3, the third major update to the iOS 16 operating system released in September. With the iOS 16.3 update, important innovations and features have come.

How to install iOS 16.3 update?

‌iOS 16‌‌.3 can be downloaded and installed on eligible iPhones and iPads by going to Settings > General > Software Update. This process may take more than a few minutes as the size of the update is a bit large. Apple has also released iOS 15.7.3 for iPhone users with older devices, and the update brings security improvements overall.

What’s new with iOS 16.3

In celebration of Black History Month, iOS 16.3 launches the new Unity wallpaper, Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, and Security Key for Apple ID. Apart from these, performance improvements, bug fixes and security updates are also included in iOS 16.3.

Prior to the update, Security Key introduces physical two-factor authentication, replacing the digital two-factor authentication used for “Apple ID” sessions. Apple has tweaked Emergency SOS to prevent accidental emergency calls. Accidentally making emergency calls has now been made much more difficult. To make an emergency SOS call, press and release the volume up or volume down buttons along with the side button.

With this update, Apple also fixes the horizontal line issue and a number of common errors on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. With iOS 16.3 also fixed an issue that caused Siri to not respond properly to some requests when supporting HomePod (2nd generation).
