Starting in January, Intel will replace all of its mobile processors in existing laptops with new ones. Intel’s 13th generation laptop processors appear under the HX, H, P and U series. The most powerful model of the family, the Core i9 13980HX, will be assertive about performance in the laptop.

Intel’s 13th Gen mobile processors will host the HX series for those who want the highest level of performance, the H series for those who want high performance, the P series for performance in thin designs and the U series for ultrabook/office heavy work.

Intel 13th Gen mobile HX series processors

Starting with the new HX series, Intel will introduce nine new processors with 10 to 24 cores. In this context, this is the first time Intel is promising so many cores for a laptop. But of course, it should not be forgotten that these are still mobile processors with 55W TDP. The HX series offers 10W more consumption than the H series processors, both from the basic TDP value and 42W more at the maximum power draw.
Core i9 13980HX, the flagship of Intel 13th Generation mobile HX processors, has a total of 24 core configurations. This processor, which runs at a maximum speed of 5.6 GHz, is followed by the i9 13950HX and i9 13900HX with the same core amount, with 5.5 GHz and 5.4 GHz, respectively. Meanwhile, the Core i7 13850HX, which has an unusual configuration of 20 cores and 28 threads, is also worth mentioning. Additionally, only these four processors support DDR5 5600 memory. The remaining processors support 4800 MHz. The HX series can be a nice component for high-end gaming PCs.

Intel 13th Gen mobile H/HK series processors

Of course, besides the HX series, the H and HK mobile processors will continue to be popular and will meet the needs of those who want high performance. Intel isn’t making any major changes here compared to the 12th Gen series, keeping 14 cores and 20 threads constant. All 13th Gen mobile H and HK processors will have a TDP of 45W. On the other hand, we can state that Intel has added a speed of up to 400 MHz to most processor models. The most powerful models of this family will be the Core i9 13900HK and i9 13905H processors. It should also be noted that the only processor in the 13th Generation mobile H series that does not support DDR5 6400 is the i5 13420H.

Intel 13th Gen mobile P and U series processors

In the 13th Gen mobile P series, Intel will introduce four new processors. The U series will feature nine new models and a special processor called the U300. Mobile P series processors offer a TDP of 28W and a configuration between 12 cores and 14 cores. The most powerful of the family, the Core i7 1370P, will have 14 cores and 20 threads.
In the 13th generation mobile U-series, the TDP values will be at the level of 15W. In this series, there is a configuration between 5 cores and 10 cores, and the most powerful of the family, Core i7 1365U, will have a 10/12 core configuration. Intel’s P and U series processors are not very suitable for games. However, these laptops are mostly for business and daily use.
