WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that aims to improve group chat management. According to a report, the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android, version 2.23.16.18, brings this feature to a select group of beta testers and gives them a first-hand experience of its functionality. With this feature, unwanted messages can be reported directly to the group administrator.
Admin review introduces a new option on the group settings screen that allows all participants in a group chat to report messages they find relevant or inappropriate directly to their group admin. When a message is reported, the administrator will have the authority to delete the message from everyone or take appropriate action based on the nature of the reported content.
For example, spam messages will be reported during conversations when the administrator is not active. After the admin has evaluated the message, he will be able to delete the message or remove the user from the group at his mercy. With this feature, it is aimed to provide a safe and respectful environment in conversation.
With this powerful tool at their disposal, group admins will now be able to efficiently moderate the group even when they are not actively present, ensuring that the conversation adheres to respect and community guidelines. Messages requiring admin review will be easily listed in a new section on the group info screen. To report a message, any member of the chat will be able to open the message options and choose the appropriate action.
While the admin review feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android on the Google Play Store, it is expected to become available to even more users in the coming days.
