Google Maps is the most used navigation application in the world. This application, which users use especially when they go to a foreign place, is used more than its closest rival, Apple Maps. For this reason, a new one has been added to the application that receives constant updates. Now you can leave a mark on your favorite places with emojis.
Location marking feature with emoji comes to Google Maps
You can create a list of the places you want to go or your favorite places by tapping the Saved tab at the bottom of the screen in the Google Maps application. As a convenience, Google stated that in Google Maps’ X account, thanks to the new update of the application, “you can customize your saved places with emojis to help you find your favorite spots faster.”

Emojis are the same as those found in messages. So, for example, you can use a food emoji to symbolize a restaurant you saved, a sports emoji for your fitness center, or any other emoji you want.
To add emojis, open Google Maps and press the Saved tab at the bottom of the screen. Here you will need to create your own list or edit an existing list you have created. In a video shared by Google on X, a new list called “Favorite Coffee Spots” is being created. The emoji is then selected and a description is added. Then all you have to do is add the venue to the list.
After filling out the list, when you see one of these points on Google Maps and are near that location, you will see the selected emoji next to the name of the place. If you zoom out on the map, you’ll only see emojis. It is thought that Google made this change because emoji can convey more information to the user, unlike a pin pasted on the map.
By using emojis with this feature, you can quickly determine whether a particular spot on the map is one of your favorite cafes, your favorite ice cream parlor, or a shopping destination you frequently visit, without having to tap the location. With different emojis to choose from, the user can use them to find their favorite spots faster in the app.
