Extremely Rare Magnetar Burst Detected

An explosion occurred in a neutron star millions of light years from Earth. At the time of the explosion, which was completed in one tenth of a second, the energy that the Sun could create in 100 thousand years was blasted into space. Experts described the exploding neutron star as a "true cosmic beast."

An important event took place in the Sculptor Galaxy, which is approximately 13 million light years away from Earth. In this event, which was detected by an artificial intelligence developed by the University of Valencia, Spain, a violent explosion occurred in a neutron star. In this explosion, which took place in a tenth of a second, the energy that the Sun could create in 100 thousand years was blasted into space.

Scientists, who managed to observe the neutron star in the magnetar class due to its high magnetic field and even calculate the energy it emits, named this very rare event “GRB2001415”. In the statements made on the subject, it was stated that this explosion was a natural event, and the reason was an earthquake or an imbalance in the magnetosphere.

“A real cosmic monster”

Victor Reglero, one of the leading names of the studies, made some statements about the GRB2001415 event. Reglero said that the neutron star, located about 13 million light-years away from Earth, is a real cosmic monster.

Experts have detected around 3000 neutron stars to date. Among them, magnetar detection was only possible for 30 stars. This is because magnetars explode suddenly without showing any symptoms. This makes it almost impossible to detect this event that takes place in the depths of space. However, there is an important aspect that distinguishes magnetars from other neutron stars. Alberto J. Castro-Tirado, the lead author of the team that wrote the GRB2001415 event, states that these neutron stars can be 100 thousand times brighter than the Sun even when they are not active.
