Increasing the number of charging stations is critical for electric vehicles to become widespread. While there are many people who sell or give up on buying their electric vehicles due to charging problems, legal regulations are being made to improve the process. In this context, the Charging Service Regulation, prepared by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), was published in the Official Gazette dated April 2, 2022.
Those who want to open a charging station in the next period must obtain a charging network operator license. This license, granted by EMRA, cannot be transferred in any way. In order to have this license, the conditions set by EMRA must be fulfilled and an application must be submitted with the documents.
EMRA’s Charging Service Regulation has been published
While the charging network operator license can be granted for a maximum of 49 years, the license can be extended upon the request of the owner, with a maximum period of time. Businesses that have obtained the license must establish a network of at least 50 charging units and charging stations in at least 5 different districts within 6 months.
At least 5 percent of the charging units in the charging network and at least 50 percent of the charging units located on the highways and state roads under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways It has become mandatory to be a DC 50 kW and above charging unit.
In order to meet the electricity need of the charging station, an electricity generation facility based on renewable energy sources can be established within the scope of the Regulation on Unlicensed Electricity Production in the Electricity Market published in the Official Gazette dated 12/5/2019 and numbered 30772.
Persons who provide charging service within 4 months from the date of entry into force of the regulation must adapt their status to this regulation. You can click here to access all the details in the regulation.
