Amazon will work with Bengaluru-based cargo carrier Quikjet to launch its first air freight service in the country, which it says will speed up deliveries. Boeing 737-800 model will be used for cargoes.

Amazon launched its airline cargo transportation service in America in 2016 with several Boeing cargo planes. The company then briefly tested it in the UK. India will be the third market where Amazon launches its shipping service.

India is one of the important overseas markets for Amazon. However, the company lags behind its biggest competitor in the country, Flipkart. Analysts said last year that Amazon had a hard time making its way through small cities and towns in India.

Amazon Air was established to only air freight Amazon cargo and has been in service since 2016. In 2017, Amazon Prime Air changes its name to Amazon Air to differentiate itself from the drone delivery service. However, the Prime Air logo is not deleted from the planes.
